Sunflowers On My Shoulders

stripe dress

Nature gives us many signs to show us that summer is slowly turning into fall and in my area one of those signs is sunflowers at our local farm stands.

Living in Kitchener is the perfect balance for me. I get to live in a world class city with services at my finger tips (and two Starbucks just in my neighbourhood!) and the country side is only a minute away. You can take the girl out of the know the rest.

This summer has been all about cruising in our 1970 Mercury Montego and we will literally find any excuse to take a drive. On Sunday I decided to start bringing out some of my fall themed home decor and my blue and white hallway really needed a punch of colour. A quick Google search of local farm stands brought me to Herrle's Country Farm Market in St Agatha. I checked them out on Instagram and asked in a comment if they happened to sell sunflowers. They quickly answered that they did and we were off!

If you find yourself in the Waterloo Region/Southern Ontario area this season, check out Herrle's Market. They have a wonderful country store filled with flowers, fresh produce (I also left with a big basket of peaches) and the most homey smelling bakery. When we walked in all you could smell was baking cinnamon and brown sugar. Pure heaven. They also have a large outdoor space that has a few things for the kids to play with and a corn maze, where we shot these photos. It's a quick one and was a great way to stretch the legs. In the fall they turn their front lawn into a pumpkin patch perfect for picking out the perfect Jack-0-lantern and photo ops.

I wore this old Banana Republic dress that I bought for work a few years ago. It's one of those staple dresses that can be worn on it's own in the summer or with a cardigan in the cooler months, like I did when we took these photos. I went with my old green cardigan because, well it's only one of two cardigans that I have left! I went through a purge of cardis and sweaters in the spring and anything that looked like it had seen better days was sent packing. Only trouble is I only left myself with this green one and a white one. I've got my eye on this camel coloured one which I know will look great in fall and this navy one because, well, everyone needs a navy cardigan.

The only new addition to my wardrobe in these photos is my headband! I'm actually pretty proud of myself because last week I was working in Toronto and stopped at J.Crew on my way home. As I was walking in I told myself that I only wanted this headband and even though there were so many cute things (like this skirt and this jacket which I am totally lusting over!) I managed to leave with exactly when I went in for. I'm trying to hold off buying too many fall items because I have a very exciting trip to Scotland coming up and you all know that means I'll be buying all the plaid I can! Ha!
