Gal Meets Glam Angelica Dress

Gal Meets Glam Angelica Dress

Don't you just love this time of year? Cool mornings, warm afternoons and fields of gold in every open space.
A few weekends ago a friend invited me to come visit Langdon Hall for the afternoon (more on our visit to sample Valmont's new fragrance line in a future post!) It was one of those weekends were everyone had something to do, except for me so I was up for an afternoon visit! The Oldest's (that's my oldest son for newcomers!) plans fell through so he decided to tag along and he graciously helped me by taking these photos!

It was one of those lovely early fall afternoons. Warm in the sunshine with just a hint of a cool breeze. A taste of weather to come in the next few weeks. I was excited for an excuse to wear my new Gal Meets Glam Collection Angelica dress that I bought the weekend before. I instantly fell for the rosy hue and while it was part of the March/Spring release, it felt perfectly fall to me.

It's a warm berry colour that works so well this time of year. I paired it with some black smoking slippers (which I forgot to save a photo of but you can see them in my Instagram photo, they are Alexander McQueen smoking slippers and I LOVE them!) a simple wicker purse that I used quite a bit this summer and a pink lip.

I love the flattering fit and oh so comfortable elastic waist, but I found the faux wrap at the bust to be too loose. I added a pin to the inside of the dress to keep the dress everything hidden (otherwise you would have gotten an eye full of my bra 😱) I plan on wearing this into the office with a tan blazer and brown flats and I think I can even get away with wearing it with a warm bulky sweater and black suede boots well into the fall and winter.

This is my third Gal Meets Glam Collection dress and I think you can tell that I love them! They are perfectly feminine, classic and colourful. I managed to buy all three at Nordstrom Rack while visiting Buffalo (Amherst to be exact) Each month a new collection is released making for a lot of dresses. Some of them end up at Nordstrom Rack for a discount if they don't sell right away. It's been the best way for this Canadian to purchase because the shipping and customs charges to Canada are almost the cost of each dress and I just can't justify that.

I have found them all to fit true to size and they genuinely feel nice to wear. They are all lined which is nice because I have never been a fan of wearing a slip (does anyone still wear those?)  The dresses are polyester and at the risk of sounding unpopular, the material is not my favourite. I was hoping for a more luxurious feel for the price of the dresses ($200-300 Canadian) I think it's fine for the fact that I have been able to purchase for 50-80% off the regular price.

For me purchasing a Gal Meets Glam Collection dress is less about the material and more about the style. There is a dress right now that I am loving, the Maggie in mauve that I will admit I am seriously considering just ordering now and having shipped to a US mailing address to bypass the outrageous customs charges. Each time I have worn a Gal Meets Glam Collection dress, I receive so many compliments. They really are stylish with fabulous colours and just look amazing on.
